Nomination of Dr. Mohamed Badawy, Chief of the Anesthesia Department at the MUHC

I am delighted to announce that Dr. Mohamed Badawy has been appointed as the new Chief of the Anesthesia Department at the MUHC, effective January 1st, 2025, for a four-year term.

Dr. Badawy earned his medical degree from l’Université de Montréal, followed by a combined residency in Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at McGill University. In 2022, he completed a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management at McGill University. Since 2013, he has served as a staff anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro).
Dr. Badawy has held several key leadership roles, including Program Co-Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program for the past seven years and Site Director of Anesthesia for the last five years. Notably, he co-led The Neuro’s COVID-19 response team, demonstrating exceptional commitment and adaptability.
Since 2019, Dr. Badawy has been an active member of the Neuro-Executive and Anesthesia Executive Committees, contributing significantly to the department's management and administration. His extensive experience, combined with his academic accomplishments and clinical expertise, positions him well to lead the Anesthesia Department in achieving new heights of excellence.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Dr. Lash for her outstanding leadership as Chief of the Anesthesia Department from 2020 to 2024.
